Each year the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) Program recognizes outstanding student employees who are nominated by their UH employer. Due to her diligence and exceptional work, CHL student program assistant Fiorenzo “Fio” Toncan was nominated for the 40th SEOTY and received the Graduate Finalist award. At the April 15th SEOTY ceremony, Fio was recognized as the Graduate Finalist, and received a $500 scholarship award and a letter of recognition from Hawai‘i Governor Josh Green.
Fio is a MS candidate in Nutritional Sciences from the Solomon Islands and has been working for CHL since Spring 2023. Her supervisor Rica Dela Cruz shared, “She [Fio] has demonstrated exceptional dedication across a wide range of tasks, from data analytics to administrative and IT functions. I strongly believe she embodies all the competencies required for this prestigious award.”
