The CHL Center of Excellence and CHL Network (multistate) annual meeting took place July 17 – 19, 2019 at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. The annual meeting was a great opportunity to reconnect and plan for the upcoming year! We were honored to have two guest speakers. Dr. Pannucci is the lead nutritionist at the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, USDA. Her presentation about the USDA Thrifty Food Plan provided important information on how SNAP benefits are determined and a discussion about ways we might partner. The culminating presentation was by Dr. Deirdra Chester a National Program Leader for Applied Nutrition Research in the Division of Nutrition, Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition at the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA. She gave a presentation on “Grantsmanship in Pacific” at UH Cancer Center’s Sullivan Center. Thanks to both of our guest presenters for sharing their mana’o with the team.
