On September 30 and October 2, the Children’s Healthy Living Food Systems project (CHL FS) hosted interactive Community Nutrition Communication Workshops in Hawaii. Led by Jeannie Butel, these workshops fulfilled planned No-Cost Extension (NCE) activities for our CHL FS grant, which aims to strengthen nutrition education and support sustainable healthy behaviors across Hawaii and American Samoa.
The sessions introduced refreshed CHL Role Model workshop materials and provided hands-on application of the Collaboration Readiness Assessment Tool (CRAT). Designed to enhance strengths-based communication and build partner collaboration skills, these resources support extension professionals and community educators in fostering healthy family environments.
We were pleased to welcome Travis Fleming, who traveled from American Samoa to participate in the Hawaii sessions. Travis refreshed his facilitator training and gathered updated curriculum materials to lead upcoming workshops for Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) educators back in American Samoa. A big mahalo to all who attended and contributed to these efforts to support community health and resilience across our island jurisdictions.
