UH Mānoa Research Day at the Capitol

The University of Hawaii at Manoa held a “Healthy Environment and Community” Research Day at the State Capitol on February 7th. Faculty, staff, and students had the opportunity to present their research to state legislators. The CHL Center was invited to the event and shared information on the CHL Food Systems grant, findings from previous studies, partnerships and building capacity in the US Affiliated Pacific region, and student research experience using CHL data. The staff connected with Hawaii representatives, Capitol staff, and UH researchers on ongoing efforts to promote child health and working with community partners. A few representatives shared their interest in farm to school bills, child mental health, public health initiatives, and testimonies needed to support improved food assistance programs. The event was a success and we hope to be invited next year!
