Extension Modules

Aloha mai kākou! Welcome to the Children’s Healthy Living Food System Extension and Outreach Program. We are eager to share with you the training modules our Extension and Outreach team have created. These training modules are designed for those who want to learn how to design an innovative program to improve outcomes of equity and access to food and nutrition to reduce health disparities.

These modules will help with designing new innovative programs or redesigning existing programs to address food system resiliency and health, to connect food system resiliency and health, and to develop skills in measuring impact of food system and health programs.

What to expect from these modules: 
  • Tools to monitor and evaluate child, household, and community food and nutrition security and health status
  • Guide to improve outcomes of equity and access to food and nutrition related programs and reduce health disparities to initiate a multilevel systems change 
  • Procedure for developmenting project aimed at food system resiliency
  • There are 5 Modules:
    • Each module has a varying number of Lessons that address specific objectives. The lessons are available in .pdf, PowerPoint slideshow, and/or video (.mp4) format; the videos have narration with added information not contained in the other file types.
    • The modules and lessons have resources and learning activities to help better understand the content of the module.
Software and Hardware requirements:
  • Mozilla Firefox is the recommended web browser. Download Firefox.
  • The most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended. Download Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • A reliable internet connection to view the modules and materials.
Request for Proposals (RFP)

An RFP will be made available in May 2023 for people to apply for CHL funding to: 

  • Design new innovative programs that address food system resiliency and child health
  • Redesign existing programs to address to connect food system resiliency and child health
  • Develop skills in measure food systems and health programs
