Ethics Training

All CHLD Scolars must complete their ethics training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative.

To assure to all human participants (also referred to as subjects) that research investigators understand their responsibility to protect the welfare of their research participants, the University of Hawai‘i (UH) requires that UH-affiliated researchers be “certified” in human participants protection before conducting research, and all non-affiliated UH research investigators must be certified in order to conduct human participant research on UH grounds. Anyone involved in designing a clinical study, has contact with research participants or their data, or is responsible for analyzing data and developing study results should be certified. This would include investigators, research coordinators and other research staff, study biostatisticians, and study data managers.  Certification can be obtained by completing the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program. Below are instructions for navigating through the CITI website.

Fellows must complete the Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course.

For detailed instructions on how to sign up and complete your training download the instructions below. Once you complete the Social and Behavioral RCR course, save and print a copy of your completion report and email a copy to chltrain@hawaii.edu
